Hudsonville Public Schools is the sole provider of the insurance. Under this agreement, the devices are protected against accidental damage or theft. Hudsonville Public Schools requires a police report to be submitted in cases of theft. A student making a false report will be subject to disciplinary action as outlined by the Hudsonville Student Handbook.
This policy does not cover for loss of the device and/or accessories, cosmetic damage, or damages caused by intentional misuse or malicious destruction. Hudsonville Public Schools will assess the device damage and repair or replace the device if the damage is determined to be accidental and within the protection guidelines. Parents/students may be charged for the full replacement cost of a device that has been lost or damaged due to intentional misuse or abuse.
The prorated insurance cost for the 2020-21 year will be $15.00 annually for each device with a max of $45.00 per family. The deductible is the amount of money required by the insured to pay before insurance will cover the cost of damage or replacement. There will be a $25 deductible charged on the first two claims. The third claim will be the full cost of the device. If the cost of the fix is less than the current deductible, the student will be charged only for the repair and will not warrant a claim. The claim deductibles are listed below. If a student withdraws from Hudsonville Public Schools and then re-enrolls later in the current school year, the coverage purchased at the student’s initial registration will be reinstated along with the number of claims made prior to withdrawal. If you qualify for free/reduced lunch and your household requires assistance with this fee, please select the option in the 1:1 Agreement Form to pay for insurance with check or cash, and speak to a district employee on device distribution day about how to apply for financial aid.
